We are getting closer to another year at Bethel. Just a month and 4 days until it's move in time for me :)
I have sooo much packing and cleaning to do. You'd think it would be easy to pack since I would say half of my stuff has never left the bag or tote that it was packed in originally, but that is not the case. I am so excited to move into the Lodge with my closest friends.
Do you think it's ironic that I have a horrible memory when it comes to certain things, but in my dreams I can see a friend in clothes that they actually own, eating food in the manner that they usually do, and even speaking (or sometimes signing) exactly how they would if we were talking in person? Do you? because I find that ridiculous sometimes lol.
Gah I can't wait.
Recently I've:
Met a new friend in person
Had dinner with an old one
Driven aimlessly to a new destination
Written some new poems
Pondered more tattoos: one of the symbol for empathy, which is this, and one of quotes from my favorite poems, still deciding on quotes.
Packed a couple boxes
Waved at some old friends.
Some favorite things:
Organizations:
Promisetoamanda.org- an organization dedicated to Amanda, with whom I graduated with that died 2 years ago.
projectunbreakable.tumblr.com- a support site for survivors of sexual assault in which victims are photographed with posters of their attacker's quotes
twloha.com- a support website for suicide and self-injury prevention.
Poets:
Sierra Demulder
Jeanann Verlee
Sarah Kay
Katie Makkai
Phil Kaye
Today I:
Saw- a weirdly painted PT cruiser lol
Heard- some hilarious slam poems
Smelled- Granite City food
Tasted- Root Beer floats :)
Touched- I hugged a guy from my dad's work awkwardly lol

Katy Perry and other fun stuff.
Yeah, I know it's been a while, but honestly, my life is not that exciting.
So where were we last...Oh fair was over and I was planning some things. None of my plans really happened, go figure lol. Still have not cleaned, still have not packed or anything. Oh well. At this point, I have a month and 10 days until it's time to move into school anyways.
I did end up videotaping one of my poems and putting it on youtube, but I hate watching myself on camera haha.
Lately, I got back into drawing some more portraits, which are my favorite things to draw :)
I've also been playing a lot of DDR. I forgot how much I used to play and how much I enjoyed it.
Yesterday I went with my mom, Daniel, and Paulette to go and see Katy Perry in her movie Part Of Me. *If you haven't seen the movie and you don't want to know what happens don't read the next part*
Can I just ask that one time can I go to a movie and not feel every emotion that happens in it? But, I have a lot of respect for Katy for putting as much as she did in this documentary movie. You watch her start the tour all excited and playful. Then, you watch her fall apart. She falls in love with Russel Brand and then gets divorced. It goes through how she was raised in a Pentecostal home and how her parents accepted her no matter what songs she sings. I could feel her love for her husband and it was real. Then as their relationship got strained it became extremely hard to watch. There was a point where she completely broke down and I almost lost it. She was completely depressed. She felt, to me, as if she was done. She didn't want to perform that night and knowing that there are thousands of fans nearby waiting on you to be happy is awful. But she pulled through. She did have a moment on stage where she started to cry because all of her fans were chanting that they loved her in Portuguese. I was a fan of Katy Perry before to a point. Now, I appreciate what she does so much more.
Other news: I applied to tutor for a couple classes at Bethel so we'll see if that works out. If you know of anybody who needs a tutor or someone for study help keep me in mind ;)
Today I:
Saw- Big Brother- love that show :)
Heard- rain and thunder. It stormed all night long.
Smelled- Nothing interesting
Tasted- left overs from trivia last night
Touched- my new wrist band for Amanda's memorial organization called promisetoamanda.org.

Fair is over.
I have returned now after a long week of fair and heat.
Fair week was ok. I used to love fair soo much, but after not being in it for so long, it's lost its funness. Daniel and I used to walk around all day and such, but this year with the heat, that was impossible. On the bright side, I got a lot of driving time in :) I like driving a lot. I just wish gas didn't deplete itself when I do it.
Yesterday Daniel and I had a good night :)
We went driving around to Disc Replay and Wal-Mart. On our adventure we picked up some PlayStation2 games and new memory card. Meaning Kingdom Hearts fun! We are hilarious when we narrate, so I really hope we can work out a Let's Play series for youtube. We ordered pizza and had some bonding time. It was lovely :)
Today I was planning on playing some more KH, which I have to say is the longest most frustrating game ever. But, mother is sick and came home early. I had to go with her to the butcher and drive home. The smell of the butcher shop was enough to make me want to be a vegetarian. Sadly, I am not fond of vegetables, but it's not out of the question entirely. Also, being around her makes me sick because of my lovely abilities...yay.
Tomorrow's plans: sorting, organizing, and videotaping. I really need to clean my room and such. Plus I've been flirting with the idea of vlogging. I've made a promise to tape some of my poetry, since it's supposed to be spoken word poetry, paper doesn't do it justice.
Today I:
Saw- a "Corner Cafe" which was not on a corner
Heard- the lovely music of Kingdom Hearts, it's one of the best video game scores.
Smelled- a butcher shop, indescribable
Tasted- leftover Papa John's :)
Touched- the steering wheel

Hello Again :)
It's been a while since I've written. 11 days exactly, meaning I kind of failed my once a week quota, oops. Oh well, better late than never. :)
New things:
So, I am in love with poetry. I think this will help my wish to write a book, but make it something more manageable and something I'm actually good at. Specifically, I am deeply in love with spoken word and slam poetry. I would so perform sometime at a slam, but unfortunately I live in corn land and the nearest slams are in Indy and Chicago. I found that there was a slam in South Bend once but I can't find any details on it. More importantly I feel like I can use my poetry at school, specifically Vespers. I feel like I should try and get on the speaking schedule and use my poetry as a foundation to tell my testimony.
Poets I am fond of- Sierra Demulder, she has two books and my favorite poem is "Werewolf", which if I do speak at Vespers, I will be memorizing this poem for it.
Jeanann Verlee, her stuff is legit, favorite poem "Unsolicited Advice to Adolescent Girls with Crooked Teeth and Pink Hair"
Sarah Kay, she is the cleaner of the two and has been doing this since she was 14, favorite poem "Origin Story" performed with Phil Kaye.
Oh I didn't tell you, I'm a licensed driver now :)
Empathicness wise- I've finally been getting things again of substance. I won't go into details, but it's nice to get things again. It's weird that I'm so used to it now that when I don't get things for a long time, it worries me.
It's Fair week! All of Daniel's projects are in, and he did sooo many...not. He did like 4 lol. He did well on his projects though :)
Unfortunately I was able to go down the tin punch isle and see who got grand champion overall. I was furious. I know it's selfish, but all I wanted was one grand champion in 10 years. That's it just one. I am so upset that the girl who because of politics and her name gets to not only beat me out, but also gets to win again. All I wanted was one, and this girl gets at least two. To top it all off, she's not even that good and all she does is bird pictures. I could of done her project in maybe 6 hours and did it better than her.
On a positive note, Liz is coming to visit tomorrow! :) So excited. And, we got our housing assignments, meaning they accepted all of us as roommates. Bonus, we'll be living with a RA and whoever her roommate is. Two more months and I'll be back at school. Half way there.
Well that's all I have for now. I'll probably do a fair update this week as well.
Today I:
Saw- "Bones" the TV show. I am a fan :)
Heard- Some awesome poetry
Smelled- Rain, oh how I love rain smell
Tasted- Daniel's foods project. Soo good.
Touched- The couch with my face as I pretty much passed out from lack of sleep from last night lol.

Ideas? and updates
Hello blog readers!
I want to thank all of you for reading my blog. Even though I don't know who all reads or what they think of it, I enjoy knowing that people at least care enough to see what's on my mind.
Thanks to you, I have reached over 200 blog views in 16 posts.
So, my loyal readers, what would you like for me to talk about?
I feel really lame just talking to myself, so if you have any input at all, it is more than welcome!
I'll take comments, questions, topics, whatever you've got for me.
You can leave comments on the blog, on my facebook posts, or you can message me on facebook. You could even email me at rachelandrews1992@yahoo.com, if that's easier for you.
Anyways, now to you regular programming :)
So what has happened since we've last spoken?
Well not a whole lot. I've been drawing and painting a lot lately which is nice. Definitely a good time passer. At the moment I'm at the eye doctor's office. I'm most likely blinder than I was but that's nothing new. I'm getting another set of green frames. :)
My dad just got back today from a business trip in Colorado. I'm glad he's home...
Tomorrow is my driving test. I'm excited and nervous. I need my license so this has to go well.
Also, a friend from high school passed away unexpectedly. She was hit by a 70ft dead tree while giving a tour on horseback. It's weird that she's gone. I've lived down the street from them since I moved to this house. We used to ride the bus together to and from school for many several years. It's so sad that so many people have died lately. My graduating class has suffered 3 losses since graduating: Amanda, Linden, and now Chelsea. Proves that life is short. What is amazing is that on Chelsea's facebook wall she had posted about 2 months ago this status: "Life is so precious. Sometimes its easy to forget that. Thank God for everyday you and your family are alive and well. You never know what day will be your last." As soon as I read that I got chills.
Today I:
Saw- the roads in Elkhart while driving
Heard- waiting room music at the eye doctor's.
Smelled- Sharpie smell while coloring
Tasted- Granite City food mmm
Touched- Daniel while we were "wrestling" for the couch. He ended up on top of me. It was a great time :)

This is getting annoying. And a Recap
So lately my body has been doing weird things. For a while I would not be able to sleep for a long time and then wake up quite early. This isn't so bad except that I know I need my sleep to function. It's just one of the lessons I've learned with going to school. Now it feels like I'm never awake. Ok, I love sleep just like the rest of us, but too much all the time is getting me annoyed. I wouldn't complain so much if it didn't involve my memory. The more I sleep the more I seem to forget. I can't remember what's happened the last couple of days very well. I remember Yesterday quite clearly, even though I did sleep from about noon til 4:30. Also included in this mess is the headaches and dizziness. Right now I have one of those headaches you get when you cry too much. The headache makes me want to sleep more to make it go away. The dizziness I can handle. It's not terrible, just a little bit annoying when I have things to do, which doesn't really happen, so we're good lol.
Anyways now to recap my day Yesterday (Since it's the one I can remember lol)
Well, first we got up bright and early to head to the fairgrounds for the rocket launch. Daniel has been building rockets for 6 years now. This year's rocket was really cool and pretty big. I enjoyed hanging out there with my uncle and some of my favorite cousins, chillin' waiting for the rockets to go off. Daniel was in the third set to shoot off. Unfortunately, his rocket's engine blew up into the rocket, causing it to fl up a little bit and come crashing back down in a cloud of black smoke. I renamed said rocket as "Drop it like it's Hot". Daniel was kinda sad that his rocket was crushed where the engine is inside it and if he were to turn it in there would be a lot of work to do. But, when getting his scores back, he decided that it wasn't worth it to turn in. If he were to fix it up, paint it, turn it in, and get 100% on it, because of the flight score, he would only receive a White or a C. So now he's happy because he's not going to have to finish it, but he gets to use the parts for next years rocket. There were quite a few great moments that I enjoyed during that morning.
Then we got out pictures taken for fair passes. Yay...
I proceeded to sleep for several hours on returning home.
Then at 7:00 was the Valleyaires chapter show featuring Instant Classic and Vocal Spectrum. OMG love it :) I always find the chorus part annoying and dull, but I've never been a fan of choruses. Instant classic is fantastic. They are an amazing college quartet and will be amazing as a men's quartet as well. I can't wait to see how they do in Portland at the International competition in a month.
Vocal Spectrum is one of my favorite all time quartets. They do amazing vocal work. They were the winners at International in 2006.
After the show is the afterglow, where we eat "food" and by "food" I mean "food-like substances". The afterglow is cool because the feature quartets are more likely to do competition stuff or they're favorite pieces that they don't do on stage.
After the afterglow is the after-party. This is awesome because you get to see the quartets just hang out and sing tags with the chorus guys. It's like watching your favorite band or singer just chillin with the fans and singing other songs. Or your favorite sports star just hanging out with the fans throwing a ball around. Daniel was sooo excited. It's so good to see him finally singing. For years he wouldn't sing in the car or anything, and now he's excited to get in the barbershop game. He could be awesome and take it really far. He's still so young so he has plenty of opportunity to learn and find a quartet to compete with. I'm proud that he's finally opening up.

Life update and another survey...because I can lol
Last night was fantastic :)
I was working on RemedyLive for my normal time slot. It was kind of slow. I talked to a regular who I always enjoy talking to. But then a newcomer came on. We had one of the deepest and best conversations I've ever had on the site. We have so much in common on a deeper "feelings" level. We talked from about 11:30 until almost 4 in the morning. It was almost creepy how God made the connections for us. God is so funny how He does things lol.
I'm going to go get my license sometime next week I think. Should be interesting, but I think I can handle it. If I would have tried to do this when I was 16 like I should have, I wouldn't have been able to handle it. It's better this way. I'll be able to cart Daniel around this summer to school and to the fair and such. And, I'll have my own car on campus for the fall, which will make working at the church so much easier.
Ok Survey time :)
This one is called "Let's Give 'Em Something To Talk About"...should be interesting.
1. Have your parents ever caught you drinking?
Well no, I don't drink. But, they do know about the first time I drank which was at Emily's wedding. I have determined that Champagne is gross. The end.

Well the last boy I talked to would be Daniel, and yes I do love him.

6. Last restaurant you went to?
Granite City, as always!
7. Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
My mother. twice.
8. Did you have an exciting last weekend?
I guess. It was busy, not necessarily exciting.
